As filming continues on James Gunn’s Superman, THR has revealed that Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett has joined the cast of the new DC Universe-launching reboot.
Having spent eight seasons on SNL before his exit in 2021, Bennett has went on to lend his voice to the features The Mitchells vs. the Machines and Nimona, as well as appearing in Jerry Seinfeld’s recent feature directorial debut Unfrosted.
THR states that Bennett will be playing “one of the notable reporters at the Daily Planet” alongside David Corenswet’s Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane, with reports suggesting his character is that of Steve Lombard, who was previously portrayed on screen by Michael Kelly in the DCEU’s Man of Steel.
Filming on Superman is currently ongoing in Atlanta, Georgia ahead of the film’s summer 2025 release.
Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Superman stars David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard and Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell as Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Superman will be released on July 25th, 2025.
