Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy wanted for Doctor Strange

June 7, 2014 by Gary Collinson

While Marvel struggles to get development on Ant-Man back on track, it seems the studio is moving full steam ahead with its plans for another Phase Three offering, Doctor Strange.

Having secured a director in Scott Derrickson (Sinister) earlier in the week, Deadline is reporting that Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) are both under contention for the role of Dr. Stephen Strange.

Hardy and Cumberbatch are the latest names to mentioned as potential candidates for the Sorcerer Supreme, with rumours earlier in the week suggesting that Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) has also been under consideration.

Marvel is yet to make an announcement on Doctor Strange, and at this point it looks likely that we’ll have to wait until July’s San Diego Comic-Con before we get official word about the film.

Would you like to see either Benedict Cumberbatch or Tom Hardy as Doctor Strange?
