Better Call Saul season 5 gets new trailer, promo images and premiere date

November 20, 2019 by Ricky Church

After a very long wait, AMC has announced Better Call Saul is set to return for its fifth season in February 2020. The series is a prequel to AMC’s hit Breaking Bad which follows conman Jimmy McGill as he transforms into ‘criminal’ lawyer Saul Goodman in the years before he met Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. Watch the teaser and check out first-look images below…

Better Call Saul will have a two-night premiere, first on February 23rd at 10 PM and then February 24th at 9 PM. Bob Odenkirk reprises his Breaking Bad role as Jimmy/Saul while Jonathan Banks also returns as Mike Ehrmantraut. Also starring in the series are Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Michael McKean as Chuck McGill Jr., Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin, Michael Mando as Nacho Vargo and Giancarlo Esposito returning as Gus Fring.

It is unknown how long Better Call Saul will last, but Breaking Bad originally ran for five seasons itself with the final season split into two parts. Earlier this year AMC President Sarah Barnett said of the series’ possible ending: “We know clearly the end was already written before the beginning began. The writers, they have a very particular, very clear sense of the arc of their show.” As the show inches closer to the time period of Breaking Bad with the introduction of more familiar characters, we’ll have to wait and see how much longer Better Call Saul will run for.

Better Call Saul isn’t the only continuation of Breaking Bad as last month Netflix released El Camino, a feature-length continuation of the series that focused on Jesse Pinkman in the immediate aftermath of Breaking Bad‘s finale. The film saw the return of Aaron Paul as Jesse alongside a number of other familiar faces from the series. It was directed and written by series creator Vince Gilligan.
