Brie Larson on what makes Captain Marvel different from other MCU films

Brie Larson, the star of the upcoming Captain Marvel, has discussed what makes her movie different from past MCU films.

Fans have had to wait quite some time for Captain Marvel’s big reveal but thanks to EW, we now have our first look at the movie, including Brie Larson in costume as the MCU’s newest superhero.

While new films in Marvel’s shared universe’s carry an innate level of excitement, what makes Captain Marvel different from what has come before? Well, Brie Larson discussed this very subject with EW, telling them that it’s the mix of drama and comedy that propels the film forward:

“That is something that is really exciting to me about this film: We did not cut corners on that stuff. Like, when it’s funny, it is funny, but also when there’s deep emotional things happening, it’s real. So I was able to bring some of those same things that I’ve brought to full dramatic roles into this, which I’m really proud of because I think it will really set this film apart.”

Do you like what you’ve seen and heard so far from Captain Marvel? Of course, the film’s first trailer will really give us a taste of what to expect but until then, fans have plenty to savour.

Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and sees Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) leading the cast as Carol Danvers alongside Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lashana Lynch (Fast Girls), Gemma Chan (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Algenis Perez Soto (Sambá), Rune Temte (Eddie The Eagle), McKenna Grace (I, Tonya), Annette Bening (American Beauty), McKenna Grace (Gifted), Ana Ayora (The Big Wedding), Vik Sahay (Chuck), Kenneth Mitchell (Star Trek: Discovery), Chuku Modo (The Good Doctor), Clark Gregg (The Avengers) and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
