First images from Captain Marvel feature Carol Danvers, Starforce, Skrulls and a young Nick Fury

September 5, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Following on from Brie Larson’s promise to “break the internet”, Entertainment Weekly has now unveiled our first official look at the Oscar-winning actress as Carol Danvers in Marvel’s superhero blockbuster Captain Marvel, as well as a series of images featuring Larson, Jude Law (Mar-Vell), Ronan (Lee Pace), Korath (Djimon Hounsou), Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan), Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch). Check them out here and click on any of the images for hi-res versions…

The associated article also goes on to reveal that Carol will already have her powers as the movie begins, and has left Earth to join the elite Kree military unit Starforce, commanded by Law’s Mar-Vell. Meanwhile, Ben Mendelsohn will portray Talos, the leader of the Skrulls, who goes undercover on Earth as a human working within S.H.I.E.L.D., which presumably brings Carol back to Earth.

Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and sees Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) leading the cast as Carol Danvers alongside Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lashana Lynch (Fast Girls), Gemma Chan (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Algenis Perez Soto (Sambá), Rune Temte (Eddie The Eagle), McKenna Grace (I, Tonya), Annette Bening (American Beauty), McKenna Grace (Gifted), Ana Ayora (The Big Wedding), Vik Sahay (Chuck), Kenneth Mitchell (Star Trek: Discovery), Chuku Modo (The Good Doctor), Clark Gregg (The Avengers) and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
