Bungie reveals new storytelling mechanism for Destiny in The Dark Below

November 4, 2014 by Tom Powter

Since the launch of Destiny in September, Bungie’s latest has received mixed reviews, with one of the most consistent issues with the game being its poor, lacking narrative – in that there barely is any.

However it would appear Bungie are taking some steps to begin remedying this. Bungie’s community manager David ‘Deej’ Dague has said that the company plans on introducing new quests similar to the exotic bounties found in the game already. The new story quests involve players completing a string of tasks which culminate in a final task. Dague has said that the new quests are aimed at bringing a varied way of playing to Destiny.

“Quests are a new storytelling mechanism that we’re using in The Dark Below,” he wrote in a Bungie blog. “They are multistage tasks that culminate in a reward, similar to the Exotic Bounties you may have experienced. Unlike Exotic Bounties, the Quests in the Dark Below can be completed by players who are solely focused on the cooperative story content of The Dark Below.”

Dague said that the new storytelling mechanics are experimental in nature.
