Carrie Fisher responds to the “Slave Leia toy” controversy

July 21, 2015 by admin

Last week, a news story on Fox News broke out about a parent who was upset about Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Figure series toy of Princess Leia from Return of the Jedi in her “Slave Leia” outfit. The story was picked up on several news outlets, which has now prompted Leia herself Carrie Fisher to giver her thoughts on the matter.

Taking to Twitter, Fisher didn’t understand why the outfit has caused controversy now when it didn’t “40 years ago” and that while she did have a chain round her neck, she used it to kill the creature than enslaved her.

You can check out Fisher’s badly worded tweets below:

SlaveLeiaDollsR causingOUTRAGE 4Sum parents onFox TV& Im thinking-if folksR outraged NOW, shouldnt I have beenOUTRAGED40yrs ago?MAYBE I WAS!
