Channing Tatum officially closes deal to play Gambit

August 1, 2015 by Gary Collinson

A few days ago it was being reported that Channing Tatum’s involvement in 20th Century Fox’s Gambit movie was hanging by a thread, but now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the star has closed his deal with the studio to appear as the Cajun mutant Remy LeBeau.

The site reports that negotiations had been “sensitive” with regards to backend compensation, as well as Tatum’s involvement in the wider X-Men universe, with the studio viewing Gambit as a character who could headline his own movies as well as appearing in ensembles, much like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

Gambit is being directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and is slated to go into production this October ahead of an October 7th 2016 release.
