Deadline is reporting that Charles Dance has joined the cast of The Batman Part II, the long-awaited follow-up to director Matt Reeves’ 2022 reboot The Batman.
While yet to be confirmed by DC Studios, Game of Thrones veteran Dance will reportedly portray the character of Charles Dent, the father of Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent, who is set to be played by Marvel star Sebastian Stan, with Stan’s MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson also on board as Harvey’s wife Gilda.
Dance’s casting brings to an end months of speculation surrounding the role, with previous reports claiming that Robert De Niro, Liam Neeson, Guy Pearce, Ed Harris, Brad Pitt, Stellan Skarsgard, Viggo Mortensen and Daniel Craig have all been offered – and rejected – the part. If true, who knows what that may indicate…
The Batman Part II will see Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Coling Farrell as The Penguin. Further casting news and details are being kept under wraps, but expect more news over the coming weeks as filming gears up to get underway in the UK in late May/early June.
The Batman Part II is scheduled for release on October 1st 2027.
