Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson sci-fi Mercy gets summer 2025 release date

March 14, 2024 by Ricky Church

Amazon MGM has announced a theatrical release date for its upcoming sci-fi thriller Mercy which will star Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dune: Part Two), per The Hollywood Reporter.

Mercy will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) from a script by Marco van Belle (Arthur & Merlin). The film will see “Pratt as a detective in the near future who finds himself accused of a violent crime and having to prove his innocence in a society where capital crime is on the rise.”

As part of Amazon’s push for theatrical releases of certain films after purchasing MGM Studios, Mercy will be released in theatres rather than directly to Amazon Prime’s streaming service. It will begin production this spring with a release date of August 15th, 2025.

Pratt is just coming of his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and related MCU projects, most prominently Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. He is currently starring in Amazon’s action thriller series The Terminal List and provided the voice for Mario in last year’s animated hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was just officially announced a sequel.

As for Ferguson, she was just seen in Dune: Part Two, which was released earlier this month, as Lady Jessica. Prior to Dune: Part Two, she reprised her role as Ilsa Faust in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning last summer and can be currently seen in Apple TV+’s Silo.

Mercy will be released on August 15th, 2025.
