Christopher Nolan denies “Real Movie” comments about Marvel

November 5, 2014 by admin

Christopher Nolan inadvertently caused a bit of a meltdown on Twitter when a comment he supposedly made in a Guardian article about Mavel’s post-credit sequences saying, “a real movie wouldn’t do that.”

The original section from the Guardian reads:

“When the studio asked if Snyder would add a comedy coda ending, in the style of Marvel, Nolan’s reply was ‘A real movie wouldn’t do that.'”

However, Nolan took to Buzzfeed today to set the record straight, simply saying, “I would never say someone else’s film isn’t ‘a real film’. The quote is inaccurate.”

The original Guardian article has had a footnote added today which reads, “Subsequent to publication, Nolan disputed the quote attributed to him by Snyder. According to Nolan, he had told Snyder, “We shouldn’t be chasing other movies, but stay true to the tone of Man of Steel.”

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is out on Friday, with a cast that includes Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club), Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises), Jessica Chastain (The Help), Michael Caine (Inception), Mackenzie Foy (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn), Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games), Casey Affleck (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints), Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3), John Lithgow (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Bill Irwin (Lady in the Water), David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas), Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a Dream), David Oyelowo (The Butler) and Matt Damon (Elysium).
