Colton Haynes wasn’t asked back as series regular for Arrow’s final season

August 11, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

Having returned to the main cast of Arrow for its seventh season, Roy Harper actor Colton Haynes has revealed on Twitter that he wasn’t asked back as a series regular for the DC show’s upcoming eighth and final season.

“Getting a lot of angry messages so just to clarify…I didn’t exit the last season of Arrow,” said Haynes. “I was not asked to come back for the final season as a series regular. But y’all know Roy…he’s never gone for too long.”

While Haynes appears to suggest that Roy will factor into the season in some capacity, his involvement is yet to be confirmed although executive production Beth Schwartz previously told GreenArrowTV that: “We hope to have him back. We love him and he’s obviously one of the foundations of the show.”

Featuring in the season eight cast of Arrow are Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez, Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Ben Lewis as William Clayton and Charlie Barnett as John Diggle, Jr.

Arrow’s shortened ten-episode season eight is set to get underway on Tuesday, October 15th, where it will air back-to-back with The Flash.
