Comic Book Review – Judge Dredd Megazine #366

November 19, 2015 by Villordsutch

Villordsutch reviews Judge Dredd Megazine #366…

Welcome! Welcome to you all for this month’s sit down and read with mother moment.  Today we’re picking Judge Dredd Megazine Issue#366, with all sorts of super heroic daring-dos!  From Judge Dredd who’s coming under-fire from Total War to Demon Nic having to rescue the Sister from a bunch of Zealot like holy fighters; along with this we have a relic which is driving members of the Psi-Corp insane in Storm Warning that is sadly coming to a close. Not only this but also closing – until 2016 – is Lawless.  So get comfy, set down your Lawgiver and fingers on lips.

Judge Dredd – Terror Rising  (Part 2)

Opening with an all-out assault on Dredd, Total War are pulling no punches in their attempt to claw back ground in Mega-City One, leaving Beeny to be Dredds eyes and feet on the street as Dredd is out of commission.  John Wagner has already – by chapter two – hooked me in with Terror Rising. I could see this coming last month and he’s certainly done it.  Given this series also has the talents of Colin MacNeil’s artwork and Chris Blythe’s palette Terror Rising, it is an instant gem in this month’s issue.

Demon Nic. (Part 6)

As regular readers know I’m not a huge fan of this strip, however, this week it got me smiling from the off, everything just seemed to gel extremely well and it flowed with spot on humour to match.  Granted again I can’t shake the feeling I keep missing random chunks between each month’s releases, but Paul Grist had me smiling this month.

Storm Warning – The Relic (Part 6)

Storm Warning comes to a close this month and both Leah Moore and John Reppion ended this fantastic story well.  It’s been a true joy to read Storm Warning and I’ve been more than happy to drop it in the “Tale of the Month” section a few times along the way.  There’s no mention however that Lillian Storm will be back anytime soon, but I hope they both have plans for her.  One of the major pluses for Storm Warning has also been the art and colours from Tom Foster and Kirsty Swan, who have given life to the words of Moore and Reppion within The Relic.  One last thing – is that Boney from Trapdoor I see on the shelf?

Lawless – Between Badrock & A Hard Place (Part 6)

After not being overly impressed with Lawless from Dan Abnett last month, it’s a complete reversal this month.  We witness a Marshall Lawson at peace with herself, as she makes her way across the Badlands, wandering through the remains of the fallen warriors of the last great Zhind conflict to an almighty cliffhanger; to make us wait until 2016 is just mean! Phil Winslade – as usual – has pulled out the stops with his artwork on this closing chapter, only on a true read do you actually see what the Marshall is walking amongst.

Tale of the Month

Again this month it’s Judge Dredd – Terror Rising.  John Wagner has caught me already at chapter two and I can see a storm coming over the horizon as well as one brewing closer to home.  With the artistic talents of Colin MacNeil and Chris Blythe running alongside this story, this is something I already looking forward to next month.

Splundig Vur Thrigg!
