Damon Lindelof has no interest in more Watchmen, HBO now unlikely to pursue season 2

January 20, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Well, here’s some rather disappointing news for anyone hoping to see more Watchmen on HBO, as showrunner Damon Lindelof has admitted to USA Today that he told the story he wanted to tell with last year’s acclaimed series and as such, he has no interest in returning for a second season.

Last week during the Television Critics Association press tour, HBO boss Casey Bloys had stated that the fate of the series was entirely down to Lindelof. And, while the writer-producer has told USA Today that he’s “given his blessing” to HBO to continue without him, Bloys has since suggested that is unlikely to happen, telling the outlet that: “It would be hard to imagine doing it without Damon involved in some way.”

The nine-episode series served as a sequel to the classic Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons comic book, and proved to be a huge success with critics and audiences alike, many of whom have hailed it as among the finest television shows of the past decade.
