Danny Elfman confirms that he will bring back his classic Batman theme for Justice League

November 1, 2017 by Jordan Jones

The internet all but exploded when news broke that Danny Elfman would be replacing Junkie XL as the composer for Justice League. Which is understandable, as Danny Elfman created one of the most iconic superhero themes of all time.

Aside from John Williams’ Superman score, no other piece of comic book music is as memorable as that of Tim Burton’s Batman. Elfman created a piece of music that has been synonymous with The Caped Crusader ever since, and it looks like that iconic theme may be making a return.

In an interview with Reporte Indigo, Elfman was asked if he would be using his classic Batman score for Justice League, to which the composer replied: “You will hear Batman’s theme for Batman… Batman has only had one theme.”

This is certainly exciting news, and also not the first time that a classic score has made a return. Remember, John Williams’ theme was brought back for Superman Returns, though that was considered a full-on sequel to the Richard Donner film (and Elfman is also reportedly incorporating the Williams theme into Justice League).

How do you feel about Danny Elfman bringing back his Batman theme? Let us know in the comments!

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League will reunite Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Iris West, Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf, and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
