Dave Bautista “thanks” Disney for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 firing

August 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week it was confirmed that, despite a wave of support for the filmmaker, The Walt Disney Company will not reverse its decision to fire James Gunn from the Marvel threequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and now star Dave Bautista – a.k.a. Drax the Destroyer – has taken to social media to offer a sarcastic thanks to the Mouse House.

Thanks ⁦@Disney⁩ !! Making America great again! 🇺🇸 https://t.co/t6A4030xkS

— Dave Bautista (@DaveBautista) August 17, 2018

Gunn was fired from the Marvel blockbuster last month after old tweets emerging joking about rape and paedophilia. The entire Guardians of the Galaxy cast shared a letter of support for their director, but Bautista has been the most outspoken by far, stating that he’d find it “pretty nauseating” working for Disney again, and claiming that he will ask for his release from his contract if Marvel doesn’t use Gunn’s script for Guardians Vol. 3.
