DC’s Booster Gold script is finished, but the project appears to be in limbo

June 1, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Back in September 2015, Warner Bros. announced that Greg Berlanti would be swapping the Arrowverse for the DC Extended Universe with the super producer signing to direct a Booster Gold movie, scripted by Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class).

Things fell silent on the proposed project until last year, when Berlanti revealed that the film remained in development and was waiting on the go ahead from Warner Bros. and DC Films. Fast forward some sixteen months, and it seems we’re still in the same position, with screenwriter Stentz offering the following updates to Revenge of the Fans.

“I do not know what’s going on with [Booster Gold] right now, honestly. And I don’t know if the DC people know what’s going on with it. Their strategy seems to change depending on how the most recent movie did. But I can tell you that a script has been turned in that the director and producer, Greg Berlanti, has proclaimed himself to be very happy with. And it’s something that’s ready to go, but DC and Warner Bros. would need to give the greenlight to it. The ball is in their court.”

Considering that Warner Bros. has its DC slate pretty much mapped out through to 2022 with Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984, The Batman, The Suicide Squad and Aquaman 2 – and a whole host of projects vying for any other free release dates – it’s not looking too promising at this point that we’ll see the Booster Gold happening any time soon, if at all.
