Deadpool appearance could tempt Patrick Stewart back as Professor X

March 3, 2017 by Gary Collinson

After initially stating that he was open to further appearances as Professor Charles Xavier following his latest in Logan, Patrick Stewart subsequently changed his mind and said that, as with Hugh Jackman, the new Wolverine movie would mark his final outing in the X-Men franchise.

Well, it seems that – unlike Hugh Jackman – the lure of a possible appearance alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would be enough to convince Stewart to get back in the wheelchair.

When asked by MTV whether Logan would be his last hurrah as Xavier, Stewart replied:  “I would have said yes, but the discussion just now about Deadpool makes me think, well, maybe there is a proper justification for the revival of Charles Xavier.”

Much to the disappointment of many fans, Jackman has already ruled out returning as Logan for a potential Deadpool/Wolverine movie, although he did indicate that he’d be tempted to don the claws once more if Wolverine was brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan reunites Hugh Jackman with The Wolverine director James Mangold and also stars Hugh Jackman, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elise Neal.
