Details on the Spider-Man deal revealed, Sony still planning Sinister Six, Venom and female-led spin-off without Marvel’s involvement

February 11, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday brought us the huge news that Sony and Marvel have reached a deal regarding Spider-Man, which allows Marvel Studios to bring the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whilst launching a new series of movies at Sony, produced by Kevin Feige.

Variety has been digging into the specifics of the deal, revealing that Disney and Marvel Studios have paid no money to Sony for the rights to use Spidey in Captain America: Civil War and the rest of the MCU. Furthermore, Sony will not receive a cut of the profits of any Marvel Studios movies featuring the wall-crawler, nor will Marvel take a cut of any of Sony’s solo movies. Instead, both parties will hope to see the benefit at the box office – Marvel by having Spider-Man involved in its movies, and Sony through its association with Marvel Studios.
