Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster to star in horror rom-com Heart Eyes

June 25, 2024 by EJ Moreno

We’ve heard of horror comedies before, but is there such a thing as a horror romantic comedy? The new film Heart Eyes looks to make this a horrifyingly good time.

Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within) is back with another genre-bending piece with Heart Eyes and has enlisted some horror heavyweights for the film. Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster have joined the project, set to star in the horror rom-com.

Devon Sawa was a young actor who became popular in the late 1990s with SLC Punk, Idle Hands, and Final Destination. Years later, he’s still making genre hits with his work on indie films like Hunter Hunter and appearing in all of the Chucky TV series.

Jordana Brewster is best known for her work in the Fast & Furious franchise. Still, she has made several horror films, including The Faculty and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

The script comes from Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day), and Michael Kennedy (Freaky). It will also star Mason Gooding, Olivia Holt, and Gigi Zumbado.

The film follows “a pair of co-workers in Seattle who are pulling overtime on Valentine’s Day. When the Heart Eyes Killer strikes, they’re mistaken for a couple by the elusive couple-hunting killer. The duo are forced to spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives.”

Heart Eyes is currently in production in New Zealand.
