Disney CEO says The Mandalorian season 2 will not miss its October release date

May 12, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Some good news from Disney CEO Bob Chapek, who has revealed that season two of The Mandalorian will not miss its October release date.

With all the cancellations, delays, postponements, and reshuffling in Hollywood due to the global health crisis, many fans are fearing the worst for films and shows that are due to come out later this year.

One series that people will certainly be upset about if a delay happened is season two of The Mandalorian. Fortunately, Disney CEO Bob Chapek has revealed that the show will not miss its October season premiere.

Speaking to CNBC, Chapek said the show wrapped production before the COVID-19 outbreak “and we’ve been in post. They’ll be no delays on Mandalorian.”

The show’s animation supervisor, Hal Hickel has also told Variety: “A big tentpole summer film, like say Avengers, might be around 2,000 visual effects shots, and these series are a little shy of 4,000 visual effects shots for season 1, and season 2 is no different. We’re doing them in around the same amount of time, maybe even less time, than a big summer film, plus we all have to work remotely. We’re in the middle of that tsunami now, but we’re going to get it all done, people are going to get their Baby Yoda, I promise.”

So, this is certainly a nice bit of relief for any fans still worried about what might happen. Season two is shaping up to be pretty special with the reported inclusion of Ashoka Tano and Boba Fett. Something to look forward to.

The Mandalorian season two is set to premiere in October 2020 and sees the returning Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) and Bill Burr (Mayfield) alongside new cast additions Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Ahsoka Tano, and Michael Biehn (The Terminator) as a bounty hunter.
