Doctor Strange director is happy James Gunn is “moving on” to direct The Suicide Squad

February 1, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Scott Derrickson, the director of Marvel’s Doctor Strange, says that he is pleased that James Gunn is directing The Suicide Squad after moving on from Guardians of the Galaxy.

There are some very happy DC fans right now thanks to the news that James Gunn is set to direct Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad 2. But it’s not just fans that are pumped, as some of his old colleagues in the MCU are happy about the move too.

Scott Derrickson, the director of Doctor Strange has taken to Twitter to weigh in on the news, revealing his excitement at his friend’s new project: “I’ll always be sad that @JamesGunn was separated from his Guardians children. But if true, I’m damn happy he’s moving on to another major franchise. Go crush it my friend.”

Derrickson’s comments probably reflect a fairly large swath of Marvel fans right now too as they are surely still sad about Gunn not being involved with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 any more but are happy to see him land another big comic book film. Do you think it’s a good move for Gunn?
