Although we’re still a year out from release, Universal Pictures has shared a new teaser trailer for the long-awaited next instalment in the beloved DreamWorks Animation franchise, Shrek 5.
Directed by Shrek franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, the film sees Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz reprising their voice roles as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona, and are joined in the cast by Zendaya as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter Felicia, and Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo as their sons Fergus and Farkle.
For the past two decades, audiences have been enchanted by the delightful, irreverent adventures of a misunderstood ogre and his ragtag group of roguish fairytale folk, based on the book by acclaimed author William Steig. Beginning in 2001 with Shrek, the winner of the first ever Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature, Shrek, Donkey and Fiona (along with their friends, family and tormentors), have grown into an indelible part of pop culture, reminding audiences around the globe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Shrek 5 is set for release in June 2027.
