Death to the Army of Darkness to introduce ‘Team Ash’

November 24, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Syfy Wire has announced the upcoming launch of a brand new Evil Dead comic book series, Death to the Army of Darkness, from Dynamite Entertainment.

From the creative team of writer Ryan Parrott (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) will see five splintered versions of Ashley J. Williams – Ash, Ashley Joanna Williams, Lil’ Ash, Dash (a.k.a. Doggie Ash) and Skeleton Ash – embarking on a quest to Ancient Egypt in an effort to prevent the Necronomicon from being written.

“At first we talked about it being different from Ash’s other realities, but I think character-wise we really gravitated toward the idea of forcing Ash to face different parts of his own personality,” states Parrott with regards to the genesis of ‘Team Ash’. “There was already kind of a precedent there with Evil Ash, so it didn’t feel like we were stretching things too far. And that’s the nice thing about Ash being a loudmouth braggart; you wanna believe that deep down he might be something more. So once we locked in on that concept, it was just about combining the different facets of Ash with interesting visual characters. We pared it down from something like 12 characters into the six that are in the book. I won’t tell you which ones we didn’t use because … I’m desperate to find a way to put them ALL in the story at some point.”
