Eddie Izzard is Doctor Jekyll in trailer for new Hammer horror

October 4, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

The newly-resurrected Hammer Films has revealed a new poster and trailer for director Joe Stephenson’s upcoming horror Doctor Jekyll, ahead of its UK release later this month.

A modern reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the film stars Eddie Izzard in the role of Doctor Nina Jekyll and her evil alter-ego Rachel Hyde, and Scott Chamber’s as Rob, the ex-convict who takes a carer position with Jekyll, unaware he’s part of Hyde’s evil plan.

“An isolated mansion, a mysterious locked room, creepy corridors, a dusty cellar and a mad doctor… Hammer horror is back with a modern reimagining of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’. When ex-convict Rob takes the carer position to the infamous Nina Jekyll, little does he know he’s part of an evil master plan devised by her alter ego Rachel Hyde. But to what lengths will Rob go to satisfy his client’s weird wishes and his own ambitions for the daughter he has never even seen?”

Doctor Jekyll arrives in UK cinemas on October 27th.
