EXCLUSIVE: Dan Stevens denies links to Escape From New York remake

September 1, 2014 by admin

Yesterday it was reported that Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) was in line to take on the role of Snake Plisskin in the reboot of the John Carpenter classic, Escape From New York. While over to promote his new film The Guest (read our review here), Stevens told Flickering Myth that there was no truth to the rumours.

“(laughs) I just heard [the rumours] this morning,” Stevens said. “It’s the first I’ve heard of it. It’s hilarious if it’s true! I don’t know anything about it. But it’s lovely to have it banded about.”

During the interview, Stevens talked about this love for John Carpenter movies and indicated that he would be interested in the role however saying, “I need to make some phone calls, I think!”

You can also hear our interview with Adam Wingard, Simon Barrett and Maika Monroe talking about The Guest here.

So is he telling the truth, or bouncing them away as rumours as Paul Rudd did with Ant-Man? Would you be happy to see Dan Stevens take on Snake Plisskin?

The Guest is out in cinemas on 5th September and is directed by Adam Wingard (You’re Next) with a cast that also includes Maika Monroe (It Follows), Leland Orser (Faults), Lance Reddick (White House Down), Chase Williamson (John Dies at the End) and Brendan Meyer (Tooth Fairy).
