Tai Freligh interviews Ingrid Rogers from Amazon’s Bosch…
Ingrid Rogers is no stranger to hard work, with an extensive history of accomplishments as a seasoned actress. All her hard work and dedication has led up to her current role in Amazon’s Bosch. With Bosch’s release of Season 4 on April 11th, and Season 5 already green-lit there is no sign of Ingrid slowing down in the future.
After finding her passion for acting in high school Ingrid began her pursuit in the entertainment world. Her hard work paid off with her break out role in the daytime drama, All My Children. From there she went on to work with pronounced directors including, Woody Allen and Joel Schumacher. Additionally, Ingrid has worked with Brian DePalma, who directed her in her starring role opposite Al Pacino and Sean Penn in Carlito’s Way. Ingrid’s many TV credits include Murder In The First, Two and Half Men, The Cleaner as well as numerous national commercials.
Flickering Myth’s Tai Freligh caught up with her to talk about Bosch, All My Children and Carlito’s Way.
Questions:
Describe your character in Bosch?
Latanya is strong; she’s independent. She’s a working mom raising two boys with her ex. She wants the best for her children and is committed to having a meaningful relationship with Jerry, their father. Oh and she loves yoga.
Had you read any of the books before auditioning for the show?
I’m embarrassed to say, but no. I’ve since bought “the late show” and “the wrong side of goodbye”, both of which are sitting in my large “to read” basket. They are next on the list though, for sure.
Any teases you can give us about Season 5?
I wish I could but the writers are in process of creating season 5. I have no idea what they’ll come up with but you can bet it will be just as interesting and engaging as the last 4 seasons.
How did you make the transition from soap operas to movies?
I was in the first year of a three year contract on All my Children, when I booked the role of Steffie in Carlito’s way. The producers of AMC were kind enough to give me the time off to shoot Carlito’s way. I transitioned relatively easily to film because the slower pace was much more to my liking.
What was it like to work with Brian Depalma on Carlito’s Way?
DePalma was great. I was definitely in “the boys club” with him and Al Pacino, Sean Penn, John Leguizamo and all the other dudes on the film. Still, DePalma welcomed me and I remember him telling me to always ask for another take if I felt I needed it.
What was your audition like for Carlito’s Way?
Nerve racking! I think I had the initial call and three call backs. This was the biggest project I’d ever auditioned for and my nerves increased with each audition. But in the final audition I got bold for a moment and told Martin Bregman, the producer, that one day, I wanted to be sitting where he was. So he got up from the chair behind his desk and gave me his seat. I’ll never forget that moment. I’m not gonna lie, that position of creative control has always been very enticing to me.
How do you balance working in entertainment, raising two kids and also maintaining a healthy, gluten-free lifestyle?
Well my kids are older now so it makes the balance much easier. My son went to many acting classes with me throughout my pregnancy and a few auditions too. It takes a lot of organization to juggle any career with children. And a lot of self-forgiveness to believe that you’re doing the best you can in all areas of your life. As far as the healthy gluten-free lifestyle, well that’s much easier. It’s a habit that I formed in my late teens and have continued throughout my life. Plus now, gluten-free tastes delicious instead of like cardboard:)
How do you use social media and what is your favorite platform?
Hmmm…sparingly:) but I’m getting better. It makes me uncomfortable to post about myself so much but I’m doing it anyway because it is a great promotional tool and hopefully I can inspire a few people along the way. Instagram is my favorite platform.
Upcoming projects?
I’m going to shoot an indie movie in Georgia in June. Can’t say much more than that about it at this time. I’m also doing re-writes on a pilot script that I’m developing with my husband.

How do you survive the zombie apocalypse?
With a chainsaw!
Do you prefer work in television or movies?
Movies back in the day but now television is so great…so both.
Favourite director to work with?
Allison Anders on Murder in the First.
If not acting, what would you be doing right now?
Volunteering to uplift the community in Jamaica. Preferably on the beach and counting my money cause I’m obviously independently wealthy.
Is there anything comparable to All My Children on TV today?
Probably Empire or Star. Same kind of drama but with a massive budget.
