First image of Michael Sheen and David Tennant in Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens

September 19, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday we brought you details on the supporting cast for Good Omens, Neil Gaiman’s upcoming TV adaptation of his and Terry Pratchett’s novel of the same name, and now we have our first official look at Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley.

“[Sheen and Tennant make] one hell of a double act (or do I mean one made in Heaven?),” said Gaiman. “People have fallen in love with an angel and a demon in a book by Terry Pratchett and me, and they have been excited and nervous to see how they would appear on screen.”

According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch – the world’s only totally reliable guide to the future, written in 1655, before she exploded – the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just after tea…

People have been predicting the end of the world almost from its very beginning, so it’s only natural to be sceptical when a new date is set for Judgement Day. This time though, the armies of Good and Evil really do appear to be massing. The four Bikers of the Apocalypse are hitting the road. But both the angels and demons – well, one fast-living demon and a somewhat fussy angel – would quite like the Rapture not to happen.

And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist…

The series will air on Amazon Prime and BBC Two, and sees Sheen and Tennant joined in the cast by Jack Whitehall (Fresh Meat), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul), Miranda Richardson (Churchill), Adria Arjona (True Detective), Nina Sosanya (Marcella), Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders), and Ariyon Bakare (New Blood). It is slated to premiere in 2019.
