First look at Kristen Wiig as Wonder Woman 1984 villain Barbara Minerva

June 27, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins has taken to Twitter to unveil a first look image of Kristen Wiig as the hotly-anticipated DC sequel’s villain Barbara Ann Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah.

In the comic books, Barbara Ann Minerva is an archeologist who is granted the power of the cheetah by the ancient plant god Urzkartaga. The DC Rebirth incarnation of the character extends Cheetah’s backstory, making her a former friend of Diana Prince prior to her transformation, and it’s been rumoured that the movie will adopt a similar approach.

Wonder Woman 1984 sees Gal Gadot once again leading the cast as Diana Prince alongside the returning Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set for release on November 1st 2019.
