Five TV Shows That Could Help the Marvel Netflix Universe

September 23, 2017 by Liam Hoofe

Blade

Marvel fans have been calling for a Blade return since the birth of the MCU back in 2008. The character, famously played by Wesley Snipes in the original Blade trilogy, has a huge cult following and the show would no doubt prove a massive success on Netflix.

While most fans would probably rather have a film adaptation of the Daywalker, I feel Blade would fit much more naturally on the smaller screen. Daredevil and Punisher had both suffered badly at the hands of big film adaptations and Netflix has managed to successfully salvage both properties. Blade is a character with plenty of stories to explore and his more R-rated stuff doesn’t feel like a natural fit for the MCU on the big screen.

Ghost Rider

Another Marvel character who has been done a huge injustice on the big screen, Ghost Rider could be the perfect addition to Netflix’s Marvel Universe. Sure, the character has appeared recently in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but that doesn’t necessarily stop him from jumping over to Netflix and being given a proper series.

Like The Punisher and Blade, Ghost Rider is one of Marvel’s darker super-heroes and the structure of the TV series would allow them a lot more time to explore his character and finally see him done justice on-screen.

Moon Knight

Rumours of a Moon Knight adaptation for Netflix have been around as long as the streaming service itself. Moon Knight, also known as Marc Spector, is basically Marvel’s very own version of Batman, except he’s slightly more demented.

A resurrected ex-mercenary, Moon Knight has several personalities that he has to contend with while attempting to fight criminals on the streets as well. His complex, deeply troubled character would be right at home on Netflix – with the company showing that they are perfectly capable of delivering a more character-driven superhero story with the first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Like a lot of characters on this list, he is also arguably, far too dark for the cinematic side of things and would feel much more at home on the smaller screen.
