Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts enlist for WWII drama Ruin

May 3, 2025 by Ricky Church

Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) are set to lead the cast of Ruin, a World War II drama from The Mother director Niki Caro.

Written by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, Ruin is “set in the ruins of post-WWII Germany, following a recently released camp prisoner (Gadot) who is forced to make an unlikely alliance with a German soldier (Schoenaerts) in a mutual quest to exact revenge on a Nazi SS squad.”

MadRiver Pictures will produce with Marc Butan serving as producer alongside Gadot and Jaron Varsano through their company Pilot Wave Motion Pictures. The Firpos will executive produce with Mary Aloe and Gillian Hormel for Aloe Entertainment and Ludascript respectively.

Gadot was just seen in Disney’s live-action Snow White remake while Schoenaerts will be seen next in this summer’s The Old Guard 2 on Netflix. The pair also share a connection through DC films as Gadot starred as Wonder Woman in the character’s two feature films as well other DC films while Schoenaerts is currently filming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow under DC Studios’ new cinematic universe.

Production on Ruin will begin early next year.
