George Miller still has plans for more Mad Max movies

January 14, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday we brought you some comments from Mad Max mastermind George Miller, who was quoted as stating that he was calling time on the post-apocalyptic action series due to the length of time necessary to complete each project.

The comments sounded strange, given that Miller has been talking about two sequels to last year’s Mad Max: Fury Road even before the release of the film, and only this week revealed that he is interested in further exploring the character Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road.

Well, it turns out Miller has been misquoted.

“I was in New York and it was so noisy and the journalist was asking me questions on a red carpet at the National Board of Review,” Miller tells The Wrap. “She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, [another Mad Max movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max. It won’t necessarily be next, but I have two more stories.”

Miller will certainly be celebrating today, with Mad Max: Fury Road earning ten Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
