Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the sequel “fans have been hoping for,” says Ernie Hudson

September 28, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Ernie Hudson, who is set to reprise his Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II role as Winston Zeddemore in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, has offered his thoughts on the script for the upcoming Jason Reitman-directed sequel.

During an interview with Yes Have Some, Hudson stated that Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the sequels “fans have been hoping for” and will completely tie into the first two Ghostbusters movies.

“There have been so many announcements and so many things that fell apart. It wasn’t until I got the script and read the script that I thought, ‘Not only is it happening, but this is really good,'” Hudson said. “It’s really in line with what the fans have been hoping for, and it really ties into the first two movies.”

“I like the movie with the ladies, but it was kind of a different take on it,” he added of the female-led reboot directed by Paul Feig. “So once I got the [Afterlife] script I began to get excited about it and felt like I knew something definite. But up until then, it was still ‘if, maybe, and whatever.'”

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman and stars Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame), Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Celeste O’Connor (Wetlands), Oliver Cooper (Mindhunter) and newcomer Logan Kim, along with returning Ghostbusters cast members Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz), Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore), Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett), and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz). The film is set for release on March 5th 2021.
