Gillian Anderson has been approached for Ryan Coogler’s X-Files

May 2, 2025 by EJ Moreno

Could Gillian Anderson return for another round of X-Files madness?

As reported, filmmaker Ryan Coogler (Sinners, Black Panther, Creed) is set for a new adaptation of the iconic sci-fi series. Still, the cast has remained a mystery since its announcement. Now, we’ve learned that the filmmaker could be looking at bringing back some familiar faces as franchise icon Gillian Anderson is being courted.

While appearing on ITV1’s This Morning, Anderson addressed the Coogler-led reboot. Anderson doesn’t give us many details, but claims talks have begun.

“I spoke to him, and what I said was, ‘If anyone were to do it, I think you are the perfect person and best of luck, call me’. At some point, if the phone rings and it’s good and it feels like the right time – perhaps. That’s what I said. But he’s amazing,” said the actress.

Anderson played Agent Dana Scully throughout the franchise, which includes the X-Files series (1993-2003) and two films (1998, 2008). She starred alongside David Duchovny, who played her partner Agent Fox Mulder. There’s no word on if he’s been asked for another round of paranormal investigations.
