Godzilla crosses the $500 million mark at the box office

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ reboot of the iconic King of the Monsters has roared its way to the half billion mark at the global box office, with a strong showing in Japan helping to propel Godzilla past the $500 million mark worldwide. The film – which already has a sequel in development featuring classic Godzilla foes Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah – is currently sitting on $507.4 million, having pulled in $200.1 million domestically and $307.3 million from international markets.

Godzilla is directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters) and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Ken Watanabe (Inception), David Strathairn (The Bourne Legacy), Juliette Binoche (The English Patient) and Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine).
