Guy Ritchie is going to war with the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare

February 23, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Guy Ritchie has tackled the London turf wars of Lock, Stock, the medieval battle-grounds of Arthurian legend, the Cold War of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and now it looks as though he’s heading to World War II with Jerry Bruckheimer in tow for action spy-thriller Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

According to THR the Aladdin director will also write the film for Paramount Pictures, which is being pitched as ‘part Dirty Dozen, part Inglourious Basterds‘ and will see Ritchie adapting Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops by Damien Lewis. Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman are producing via Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

The book is about how Winston Churchill created a Black Ops team for which he had plausible deniability when sending them to face the Nazi enemy. The group was made up of criminals and ne’er do wells who operated on the front line and had an important say in the outcome of the war.

Sounds like the perfect recipe for Ritchie, who has a decent track record when it comes to entertaining ensemble pieces. Who would you like to see make up his Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare? Perhaps a reunion with Jason Statham? Let us know by heading over to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
