Harley Quinn animated series renewed for third season on HBO Max

September 19, 2020 by Gary Collinson

DC Universe may be moving to comic books only, but fans of the streaming service’s original content still have plenty to look forward to – assuming they’re happy to switch their subscription to HBO Max.

It’s already been announced that new seasons of Titans, Doom Patrol and Young Justice will be premiering exclusively on HBO Max, and during yesterday’s news that DC Universe is transforming into DC Universe Infinite, it was also revealed that the animated series Harley Quinn will be returning for a third season.

“Season 2 ended a while ago,” said co-showrunner Patrick Schumacker in an interview with EW. “We knew the show show was doing pretty well on DC Universe. We knew the show was gonna end up on HBO Max eventually, and we knew that that there were talks happening about a season three, but all of that was happening like almost right when quarantine started. So we had a really long time to think about what we might do, or at least the gist of the story that we might want to tell for season 3. We’re just super excited to finally actually be able to put that into action and actually get the ideas ping-ponging off both the returning writers and the inevitable new writers that we’re getting to hire now. I am very excited to finally get those ideas out and about in the ether.”

The adult animated comedy series, HARLEY QUINN, follows Harley’s adventures, where alongside ragtag crew of DC castoffs, she tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.

Harley Quinn features a voice cast that includes Kaley Cuoco as Harley, Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Diedrich Bader as Batman, Jacob Tramblay as Robin, Rahul Kohli as Scarecrow, Alan Tudyk as The Joker, Jim Rash as The Riddler, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Sanaa Lathan as Catwoman, Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho, Ron Funches as King Shark, J.B. Smoove as Frank the Plant, Wanda Sykes as the Queen of Fables, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, James Wolk as Superman, Jacob Tremblay as Damian Wayne, Alfred Molina as Mr. Freeze, Briana Cuoco as Batgirl and Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor.
