Has Marvel’s Blade been hit with more developmental woes?

Marvel Studios has tried to make their upcoming Blade project work for some time. 

We’ve seen plenty of delays, a handful of writers, and even a new director, yet nothing has stuck. Now, it seems like there’s been another bump in the road as Marvel and Kevin Feige look for another new writer for the film, with the WGA strike finally coming to a close.

If you recall, filming would’ve begun last June in Atlanta when it became the first tentpole movie impacted by the strike, which just ended last week after five months. During that time, reports had True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto set to pen the latest rewrite after previous writing sessions with Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, and Beau DeMayo.

In a new report from World of Reel, Blade has yet another writer joining the production, yet no name was stated. The outlet does describe this new writer as doing “a total revamp of the last draft.”

This could help as it was long-rumored that lead actor and our new Blade Mahershala Ali was not a fan of the routes the previous stories were taking, so the new direction could work in his favor.

Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) will direct Blade, which stars Mahershala Ali, Delroy Lindo, Aaron Pierre, and Mia Goth.

The film was set for release on February 14, 2025, but there are no reports on whether it will make that date.
