Hayley Atwell would like to play the Doctor in Doctor Who

It’s a question that comes up every time a regeneration is due: will the BBC cast a female as the Doctor in the iconic sci-fi series Doctor Who?

It hasn’t happened yet, and with Peter Capaldi in full swing as the Twelfth Doctor, it’s not a question we need to be asking any time soon. However, if the BBC is considering a gender swap, then Captain America and Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell has thrown her hat into the ring:
