HBO Max releases the first four minutes of Aquaman: King of Atlantis

October 13, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Thanks to the success of the Harley Quinn television series and Teen Titans, DC’s animated output has established quite the reputation for quality superhero spin-offs over the past few years. Now they’ve opted for the same bright colours and OTT characters for this James Wan produced Aquaman origin cartoon, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, which eschews the serious tone of Arthur Curry’s big-screen alter-ego, for a Bikini Bottom approach to his first days as ruler of the sea.

Check out the opening four minutes to the HBO Max animated series below…

The series begins with Aquaman’s first day on the job as king of Atlantis and he’s got a LOT of catching up to do. Luckily, he has his two royal advisors to back him up – Vulko, the scholar, and Mera, the water controlling warrior-princess. Between dealing with unscrupulous surface dwellers, elder evils from beyond time and his own half-brother who wants to overthrow him, Aquaman is going to have to rise to the challenge and prove to his subjects, and to himself, that he’s the right man for the trident!

Aquaman: King of Atlantis premieres on HBO Max on October 14th.
