Is Indiana Jones 5 cinematographer Janusz Kaminski’s next project?

October 1, 2014 by James Garcia

The folks over at /Film have discovered an interesting new piece of the Indiana Jones 5 puzzle, that points back to cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, who’s worked with Steven Spielberg on a handful of films including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Schindler’s List, War of the Worlds,  Catch Me If You Can, Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan among others.

Variety first posted an article titled Top Cinematographers Offer Online Course on Filmmaking, that concluded this little nugget of info about Kaminski…

“Since then, Kaminski has made more than a dozen films with Steven Spielberg, earning two Oscars along the way. His credits include Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, and The Diving Bell & the Butterfly. His next project is the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie.”

While a paragraph from an article completely unrelated to the news item itself isn’t exactly the most credible of sources, this does come from interviews taken at a seminar with the cinematographers in the article. Could Indiana Jones 5 already be on the books for Kaminski?

When last we heard, Disney had acquired the rights to the beloved adventurer/archaeologist along with their purchase of Lucasfilm and Star Wars, and were actually thinking of rebooting the franchise. Those rumors were never confirmed, and Harrison Ford has expressed his interest in donning the fedora once more, so it’s possible that another Indiana Jones movie is in development.

We’ll keep you updated on this possible Indiana Jones 5 update as more news becomes available. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts about this news in the comments below.
