It’s twice the Weisz in teaser for Amazon’s Dead Ringers remake

March 1, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Promising to take us to darker and stranger territory than even David Cronenberg’s 1988 psychosexual thriller upon which it is based, Prime Video has just released the teaser for their Dead Ringers remake.

Created, written, and executive produced by Normal People‘s Alice Birch, the six-episode series sees Rachel Weisz taking on the dual roles of identical twins Elliot and Beverly Mantle, siblings who share everything.

Directed by Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body), Karena Evans (Snowfall), and Lauren Wolkstein (Y: The Last Man), and also starring Britne Oldford (The Umbrella Academy), Poppy Liu (Better Call Saul), Michael Chernus (Severance), Jennifer Ehle (Saint Maud), and Emily Meade (The Leftovers), you can check out the teaser below…

A modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller starring Jeremy Irons, Dead Ringers stars Rachel Weisz playing the double-lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront.

Stream Dead Ringers on April 21st only on Prime Video.
