James Gunn thanks his supporters following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 reinstatement

March 16, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday it was announced that Disney has reinstated James Gunn as director of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, bringing an end to the saga that began last year with the filmmaker’s dismissal from the project last year due to inappropriate past tweets.

Disney’s original decision to fire Gunn had been met with heavy criticism, with the Guardians of the Galaxy cast issuing a statement in support of the filmmaker, and a petition on Change.org urging the Mouse House to reconsider attracting over 425,000 signatures.

Well, in response to the news, Gunn has now returned to social media to offer his thanks to everyone who supported him following his firing, and to Disney for bringing him back into the Guardians fold.

Before he returns to work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn is set to direct the supervillain sequel/reboot The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC Films, which is set for release in 2021.
