James Wan reacts to rumours about his possible Aquaman departure

May 2, 2016 by James Garcia

It sure was a long weekend for the DC Extended Universe. Not only have reviews for Captain America: Civil War reinvigorated a lot of the negative feelings that critics felt toward Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but The Flash film lost its director on Friday, which in turn sparked rumours that Aquaman helmer James Wan was “feeling trepidation” about his own DC Comics adaptation, and could be jumping ship as well.

As it turns out, those rumours, which started with a report from Birth.Movies.Death’s Devin Faraci, appear to be inaccurate. At least, that’s what we can glean from these recent tweets from Wan himself, who is hard at work on finishing up his latest film, The Conjuring 2.

Judging by the timing of these tweets, and the fact that he addresses Devin Faraci (who no doubt spent the weekend getting some backlash for his report) by name, it’s clear that Wan is indeed talking about Aquaman, and looks the least bit concerned underneath that big banner of the King of Atlantis. So, we can all rest easy – as far as this particular DC Extended Universe entry  is concerned, at least.

Directed by Wan, Aquaman will star Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It will also star Amber Heard as Mera, and is slated to hit theaters on July 27th, 2018.
