Jar Jar Binks and Ewoks will NOT be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

December 7, 2015 by admin

Well this should come as a surprise to literally no one, but Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that some of the most hated characters in the Star Wars Saga will not be present for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“Jar Jar is definitely not in the movie. Ewoks are not in the movie.” Kennedy joked when asked who would not be in the film at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens press conference. “That was because Harrison [Ford] insisted.”

Well, that clears that up.

Ewoks featured in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi are are consistently pointed at as one of the worst ideas George Lucas ever had. That was until Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace when he introduced Jar Jar Binks. Intended to be a cool Goofy-inspired character, Jar Jar came under fire for being a racist stereotype and was phased out in sequels Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
