As it gears up for its Spring shoot, Warner Bros.’ DC supervillain ensemble Suicide Squad has added another actor to its cast, with The Wrap reporting that Jay Hernandez (Friday Night Lights, Hostel) has signed on for a mystery role, which may possibly be The Joker’s cellmate.
According to Latino-Review, Hernandez will play “Chato Santana aka EL DIABLO. It is a small role, no more than a cameo in the film. He is a prisoner being held in the super powered criminal part of the prison with (rumored) KILLER FROST, BLOCK BUSTER, KING SHARK, & LIVE WIRE amongst others.”
Hernandez joins a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker and Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise the role of Lex Luthor.
Suicide Squad is being directed by David Ayer (Fury) and is set for release on August 5th 2016.
