Jessica Chastain to star in True Detective: Season 2?

May 23, 2014 by Scott J. Davis

According to Nerdist, Jessica Chastain, the Oscar-nominated actress of Zero Dark Thirty and The Help, has been offered one of the leading roles in season two of the critically acclaimed HBO series True Detective.

Set-up as an anthology TV series, rather than a continuation story, True Detective has been designed to features a new cast and new storyline for each new season that is made.

After Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson starred in the first superb season of the show, it would seem the makers may well be after Chastain for one of the new detective roles, with the show’s creator, Nic Pazzalatto, stating previously that the new season will feature two female detectives.

Last week, The Mirror over here in the UK launched a rumour suggesting that Brad Pitt (World War Z) was also lined up for a lead role as well.

The popularity of the show was huge at the tail end of last year, and with the Blu-ray and DVD release of season one due in a few weeks it seems very likely that these rumours, and some new ones, will crop up more and more.

Do you think Jessica Chastain would be a good fit for True Detective? And indeed Brad Pitt for that matter?
