John Wick spin-off Ballerina adds David Castañeda and Sharon Duncan-Brewster

March 8, 2024 by Ricky Church

With the John Wick spin-off Ballerina delayed to 2025 and currently undergoing reshoots to up the action, the film has made two additions to its cast. Per Deadline, David Castañeda (The Umbrella Academy) and Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Sex Education) will star alongside lead Ana de Armas.

Ballerina focuses on de Armas’ Rooney, one of the ballerinas trained by Angelica Huston’s Director at the school featured in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The film will follow Rooney on her quest for vengeance against the people who murdered her family.

There is no word on who Castañeda and Duncan-Brewster will play. Their addition in the film comes after it was delayed from its June 2024 date to next year as director Len Wiseman and John Wick co-creator and director Chad Stahelski are developing new action sequences to film for the reshoots.

Ballerina will feature de Armas with Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) and Catalina Sandino Moreno (From). John Wick veterans Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston and the late Lance Reddick will also appear with Keanu Reeves making a brief appearance as the franchise hero.

Ballerina will hit theatres on June 6th, 2025.
