Johnny Marr joins Hans Zimmer on No Time To Die score

January 19, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having just signed on to No Time To Die last week as a late replacement for outgoing composer Dan Romer, Hans Zimmer faces a race against the clock to get the score ready for the Bond film’s release this April, and so it seems he’s turned to one of his frequent collaborators for some assistance.

As reported by NME, Johnny Marr, former guitarist for The Smiths, is set to work with Zimmer on the music for No Time To Die, having previously teamed with the Oscar-winner on Inception and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and performed on his live tours.

“Part of the legacy of the Bond films is iconic music, so I’m very happy to be bringing my guitar to No Time To Die,” said Marr.

The news follows hot on the heels of the announcement that American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish is set to perform the theme song for No Time To Die, making her the youngest artist to sing a Bond tune at just 18 years of age.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

No Time To Die is set for release in the UK on April 2nd 2020 and in the U.S. on April 8th 2020 and stars Daniel Craig (James Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter) and Christoph Waltz (Blofeld), while new additions include Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Billy Magnussen (Velvet Buzzsaw), Dali Benssalah (A Faithful Man) and David Dencik (Top of the Lake).
