Jon Hamm is Rob Liefeld’s dream pick for Cable

January 15, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Although it seemed for a while that Cable would make his big screen debut as part of 20th Century Fox’s planned X-Force movie, things have since fallen quiet on the potential X-Men spinoff. Nevertheless, creator Rob Liefeld has taken to Twitter to reveal his dream pick to play the character, sharing a mock-up of Mad Men star Jon Hamm as Nathan Summers…

While Hamm would certainly seem an interesting choice for Cable, the Golden Globe winner has previously turned down a number of superhero roles, telling THR in 2014 that: “The deals that they make you do are so Draconian. And, of course, you are signed on for not only the movie … but at least two more that you haven’t read, and you have no idea what they are going to be and all the crossover ones you are going to have to do. For me to sign on now to do a superhero movie would mean I would be working until I am 50 as that particular superhero. It’s a lot of work at one thing, which is not necessarily the reason I got into the business, which is to do many things. If you want to spend all day pressing the same key, that … seems an odd choice.”
